For more than 100 years, the 650-acre McCook Quarry has served the local communities and state economy as an employer and provider of vital construction materials. We are committed to being an active part of the community, a socially responsible neighbor and good stewards of the environment.

Adopt-A-School
Vulcan is proud to work with area schools as part of our corporate mission to support our community. For school children from kindergarten through high school, Vulcan provides assistance, expertise and materials to schools in our Adopt-a-School program.

Lyons Township Quarry Advisory Council
Vulcan employees from the McCook Quarry, in partnership with the Township of Lyons and a neighboring quarry, formed the award-winning Lyons Township Quarry Advisory Council to open communications with the surrounding communities. The council maintains the 1-866-713-4VMC hotline for community feedback and input.

Vulcan Materials Company Foundation
The Vulcan Materials Company Foundation was established in 1988 to assist in carrying out our mission of being a good corporate citizen in the communities where we have facilities. We support and take an active part in many public and charitable projects.

Our objective is to help build stronger communities by working with schools, supporting environmental education and encouraging employee involvement. Our activities include involvement in adopt-a-school programs, funding scholarships, and establishing and maintaining certified wildlife habitats.
