Vulcan employees from the McCook Quarry, in partnership with the Township of Lyons and neighboring quarries, formed the award-winning Lyons Township Quarry Advisory Council to open communications with the surrounding communities. The purpose of the council is to provide a forum for open conversations on issues impacting the communities surrounding the Material Service Corporation/Vulcan Company facilities, directly related to the operation of the quarries. This forum also provides a platform for the quarry industry to communicate the positive contributions being made to the communities and foster continued participation and growth as corporate neighbors. The group includes the following communities: Brookfield, Lyons, Lyons Twp., LaGrange, McCook, Countryside, Hodgkins, LaGrange Park, Western Springs and Willow Springs.

Law Enforcement Day is a partnership between Vulcan and the Lyons Township Quarry Advisory Council. The event was established based on feedback from Council members seeking a further discussion on truck traffic and road safety.
